The WMS App enables Europe Retail Packing to perform paperless order picking in their warehouse

Since last year, service provider and trading company Europe Retail Packing (ERP) has implemented digital order picking through the WMS App of GreenCommerce. This Warehouse Management System is an extension of the fresh produce software GreenCommerce that ERP works with to digitize their processes. The WMS App runs on tablets and is directly connected to the sales system at the office. Besides the fact that the WMS strongly promotes synergy, a lot of time is also saved. The App enables ERP employees to pick paperless orders within their shared warehouse.

Implementation completed successfully
At the start of last summer, an implementation process of the WMS App linked to GreenCommerce was done at ERP in Poeldijk. They are specialists in packaging, purchasing, logistics services and concepts. To ensure that ERP can efficiently handle all relevant business processes at the office and in the warehouse and gain full insight into commercial matters, GreenCommerce is used. This allows flexible working from multiple locations.

Because the fresh produce service provider processes a large number of pallets, they have started using scanners in their warehouse. These bluetooth scanners are linked to a tablet where the order pickers indicate their activities. Pallets are regularly placed in a sub-location because, for example, there is no room at the dock or it concerns refrigerated products. By placing pallets at such sub-locations, it is clear to everyone where the pallets are located in the warehouse; a problem they often encountered before the WMS App.

Because ERP has doubled in the number of cells, it became increasingly time and labor intensive to keep the stock up to date: “Previously, the goods did enter the cell, but we had no idea where. We used to spend a lot of time looking for the pallets that were lost. We tried to register this in Excel, but it was not kept up to date.” says Bianca Borghart, Team Leader at ERP. “Since we started with the WMS App, we can deploy these employees in the right places, which saves us a lot of time. We also know exactly where each pallet is by working with sub-locations. Where we used to be busy every Saturday counting the stock and finding out shortages, now we only have to check numbers. So far, nothing has gone wrong with the WMS App.”

Boy Lankers, production employee at ERP, continues: “The people at jem-id were patient with the explanations and questions were answered immediately. In addition, the App is very user-friendly, which meant that the staff could quickly get accustomed to it. We can no longer do without the WMS App on the floor.”

As a direct result of the great success at the Poeldijk location, the Barendrecht location will soon also start using the WMS App.

The WMS App
The GreenCommerce WMS App enables users to digitize some of the activities in a warehouse in a simple and user-friendly way. For example, just like ERP, companies can make the step towards paperless working by fully digitally controlling the order picking and inventory process, but also, for example, by further digitizing the goods receipt process. The real-time information provision and integrated push communication enable immediate action to be taken in the event of changes to orders or assignments. Every action performed by an employee is immediately recorded in the systems. Thus, every interested user is also immediately aware of the progress of orders and assignments in GreenCommerce.
