The swift implementation of GreenCommerce gave Berryland a head start

Rob Pakvis and Theo Benjert from Berryland
In 2023, a new collaboration was launched between Berryland and GreenCommerce—the software package tailored for companies in the fresh produce sector. As a startup, Berryland was looking for a software solution that could provide a strong foundation for their operations. With years of prior experience using GreenCommerce, the system quickly proved to be the perfect fit. Within a record time of just one month, Berryland went live with the software.
25 years of experience in the fresh produce sector
Founders Theo Benjert and Rob Pakvis launched the import company Berryland in 2023. As the name suggests, Berryland is fully focused on the import of soft fruit, supplying the European retail market with top-quality berries. Their clientele includes supermarkets in Ireland, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, and Scandinavia. The assortment covers the full soft fruit range: raspberries, red and blueberries, (white) strawberries, blackberries, pineberries, blackcurrants, and goji berries.
From the very start, Theo Benjert and Rob Pakvis knew one thing for sure: a good start requires a solid software solution. Their previous positive experiences with GreenCommerce at former employers made the decision an easy one. Rob Pakvis, co-owner of Berryland, explains: “GreenCommerce is a user-friendly and straightforward software package, especially in our trade, which can be quite complex. At previous employers, I also worked with GreenCommerce or advised them at the time to start using it. Thanks to many years of experience with the system, I’ve become familiar with various ways of working. That’s what makes GreenCommerce accessible to everyone—both young and old can work with it.”
In addition to GreenCommerce, Berryland also uses the Datawarehouse package, which transforms data into comprehensive dashboards and reports in Power BI.

Relocation to Ridderkerk
The company recently moved into the premises of R&M Forwarding in Ridderkerk. “It’s great that we can now handle our own packaging at this location and have space for inbound logistics and storage. The move aligns perfectly with the growth we’re experiencing at Berryland,” says Rob.
Rob also mentions their involvement with a cultivation site in Tanzania, which enables them to supply products year-round. “Our ambition is to become the best soft fruit supplier in the market. We’re perfectionists when it comes to quality, and that means we don’t always take the easiest route. That’s why we’ve made it a priority to optimize GreenCommerce, ensuring it fully supports our specific needs.”

Solid foundation with jem-id
By establishing a solid digital foundation with GreenCommerce, Berryland is well-prepared for the future. Market rules and requirements are constantly evolving, so the ability to adapt quickly is essential. Rob concludes: “Our collaboration with jem-id has been extremely positive. It’s a fantastic team with people who’ve been around for years. They truly understand the business, listen carefully, and think along with us. Even during the launch of Berryland, they took the time to guide us properly. That kind of service is worth its weight in gold.”
