WMS App integrated within GreenCommerce Apps: what does this mean for you?
This year, all WMS App users will be migrated to the updated version within the GreenCommerce Apps portfolio. Whereas the App currently still has to be installed on the tablets as a separate web app, it will soon be manageable via the Apps dashboards. In addition, the functionalities have been further developed, introducing a new workflow with ‘work orders’. In this article, we give you a preview of this approach.
Work orders instead of pick lists
The WMS App will be integrated into the GreenCommerce Apps landscape, with a layout that fully matches the style you are used to from the Apps. All current features have been carried over to the new layout, either in the same form or improved in execution.
Via the side menu on the left of the screen, you can easily switch between the different screens, just as you are used to in the current application where these components are located at the bottom of the screen. The flow for inbound and mix pallets remains the same, but with a completely modernized technical foundation.
New: workflow with work orders
In addition to the existing options, the WMS App now includes a new feature: work orders. Several companies have already started using this new workflow, allowing order pickers to be guided more precisely.
During the sales process, a salesperson in GreenCommerce can provide a work instruction for the order picker. For example, this could involve a specific customer request regarding pallet composition. Where previously shipment plans were sometimes split to have order pickers pick specific pallets, the same can now be achieved within a single shipment plan using a work instruction. The new possibilities with specific work instructions and work orders help maintain better insight per shipment plan. This also aligns well with the option to print transport documents per shipment. Multiple work orders can be assigned to an order picker. By displaying the relevant information, work can be carried out logically, and time is used more efficiently.
Scheduled shipments screen
Within a shipment plan, a new tab called ‘Work Instructions’ appears. This tab can contain instructions added by the salesperson. A work instruction can also be created by a warehouse planner. Both types of instructions appear in this tab, with a distinction between commercial instructions and warehouse instructions. Work instructions can then be organized into a new or existing work order and assigned to one or more order pickers.
Order picking with the WMS App
In the Work Orders tab, the assigned work orders appear, similar to the current workflow. Since the actions for picking and building pallets have remained largely the same, the impact of the transition will be minimal.
Within the ‘Inventory’ tab, the various options for pallets can be found, such as viewing pallet information, marking pallets, grouping pallets, and creating inventory records.
The ‘Move Pallets’ option now has a fixed place within the sidebar menu options. Just like in the current version, this functionality appears as a pop-up over the open screen. After moving the pallet to a selected sub-location, the pop-up disappears, and you return to the previous screen.
Starting pilot soon
The developments are ready to be tested by a selected group of customers. Afterwards, it will be possible to gradually switch to the workflow with work orders. This will be guided by an implementation specialist at the appropriate time. Once the pilot has been successfully completed, we will begin migrating all WMS App users. We will contact you about this soon.
