Sprint update: The second quarter of 2022 is close. What can we expect?

The second quarter of 2022 is just around the corner. In addition to a GreenCommerce quarterly release, a new period is also dawning for the roadmap. In conversation with Jeroen (Product owner) and Robin (Developer and process architect), we discuss the past period and look forward to the second quarter. In this sprint update, we delve into the preparatory process and reveal a sneak peek; what can users expect in the near future?

“We introduced the roadmap to our customers for the first time at the beginning of this year,” Robin begins, “that got a lot of enthusiastic responses. Of course you secretly hope for that, but that it is confirmed by your own customers is very rewarding. That means we hit the right note.” The need for substantive information became more and more apparent; customers want to know which developments are planned. Even when it is not directly related to their work. This could be concluded from recent customer satisfaction surveys among GreenCommerce users. It was continuously indicated that people would like to think along with us and want to be involved more often in the development process. “The curiosity from the market is contagious,” says Jeroen, “we take customers into our story. But sometimes we also have to step on the brakes. At the moment there is a lot going on and customers want to participate, so that you quickly want to do too many projects at once out of joint enthusiasm. We have to make sure that we stay focused and that we can plan go-lives.”

Robin continues: “These are good learning opportunities and we discuss them in detail with the relevant customers, who fortunately understand this. It just goes to show that there are still plenty of challenges in our field.” By entering into intensive collaborative processes, a lot of substantive knowledge is collected that is returned to the drawing board. “Over the past period we have actively approached companies in the quality and service sector. We discuss what they are facing and where we think the future lies. We try to paint as broad a picture as possible. To create structure, we had a number of brainstorming/whiteboard sessions and we sat around the table internally with various colleagues. The elaboration of this is then tested with the external organizations and the relevant customers. This is how we come to concrete plans.”

As a result of this approach, a new dialogue was opened: “A number of customers were quiet for a while and the conversation has now begun again. They also actively approach us to think along about issues. For example, we have had discussions about controlled inspections, re-inspections and outgoing inspections in order to extend the inspection process. A nice bridge that connects to the FreshTracker transition to QC App from the previous period, to which the first users have already switched," says Jeroen.
In preparation for the next quarter, possibilities have been created to process the registration of services and invoicing in a logical way. That gives a lot more insight to users. Jeroen: “We are actively talking with customers to see which detail we should create. What is the future? We want to create sustainable solutions that relate to a bigger picture.” A good example is the technical GreenXchange project; whereby the grower platform has been converted to a new Angular version: “The first growers are running live on the new version and the feedback we have received so far has been positive. In the coming period, we will continue to accelerate the involvement of the other growers and the necessary technical developments arising from the feedback moments.”

Robin adds: “We have also started devising developments for new functionalities to enable outgoing approval as well.” The subject of re-approval will be discussed further in the second quarter. The next step is also being taken in the field of links, in which an answer is sought to the issue: 'create a link ourselves or seek collaborations with partners in the sector'. “Enough material to think about.” ends Robin.
