Continuity of GreenXchange - GreenCommerce

New architecture ensures continuity of the linked grower platform GreenXchange

Last year we started converting various GreenXchange screens to updated versions. A number of screens have recently been converted again, allowing growers to work better with the platform. Developers Toni van Bergenhenegouwen, Robin van den Broek and Joost de Wilde have been busy transferring the last screens within GreenXchange in recent weeks. In this update they explain what changes have been implemented and what benefits growers can expect.

“At the beginning of 2022, we started replacing the most important parts within GreenXchange,” begins Robin van den Broek, “The previous technical structure was no longer fully supported from that year onwards. This did not immediately cause problems for usage, but could eventually mean that certain functionalities no longer worked or that changes could no longer be made to the platform. In order to continue developing, an update in GreenXchange technology was required."

Low impact, increased continuity
Over the past period, the item and product forecast, master data, settlement, settings and dashboard have been updated. Below you can find a brief explanation of the adjustments made for each component:

Dashboard
The dashboard is the first screen that users see when they open the application. This is the central point for important information from GreenXchange. The updated dashboard remains the central point for the display of this information, so that the user can see the progress of his processes at a glance. The Twitter feed was no longer used and has therefore been omitted from the new screen.

Settings
The settings screen has been made a lot clearer, with new tabs distinguishing between personal, location, printer and customer settings.

Prognosis
The item and product forecast components have also been redesigned, with various improvements for the input added. For example, a limit has been placed on the length of a period, which creates more space in the input fields.

Settlement
The settlement registration screen has been reorganized using expandable content blocks (weeks), which provides a better overview. The tables have also been rearranged to make more information visible.

Once again, the focus is on maintaining the logical structure of the application. “We have taken the user experience of growers into account when redesigning the layout, with important buttons and settings remaining at almost the same place. This means that the transition will have as little impact as possible on daily activities for users, while they can benefit from the latest technology.” said Toni van Bergenhenegouwen.

The new screens are currently being tested by a select group of growers. The collected feedback will subsequently be processed in the application, so that the screens can be made available to all users.
