Controlled inspection and re-inspection with the QC App

The third quarter of 2022 kicked off with the Watermelon release. This version focuses on the theme: Quality Assurance & Compliancy, in which the QC App once again plays a major role. For example, new developments have been added to standardize the process around controlled inspection and re-inspection in GreenCommerce. An interesting extension of the inspection application, especially for fresh produce companies that work with external warehouses and/or quality control inspectors.

FreshTracker transition to QC App
Earlier this year, the transition from FreshTracker to the QC App was initiated, with FreshTracker users transitioning to the QC App in phases. Until recently, the QC App had exactly the same functionalities as FreshTracker, but with an improved technical structure. With the Watermelon release, new developments have been added in GreenCommerce and the QC App to create a steering mechanism for performing quality control inspections.

Based on expected receipts, office workers can issue specific instructions to inspectors to inspect goods. This is a valuable extension, especially when a company works together with an external warehouse and/or external quality control inspector. The commercial employees at the office use this to effectively direct the inspectors to re-inspect specific batches or pallets. Furthermore, it often happens that goods have to stay overnight at a location, so that an extra inspection moment has to be planned. This is also made possible in GreenCommerce and the QC App.

The project is divided into several phases, so that milestones could be easily monitored. In phase 1, the functionalities were developed that focus on being able to process quality inspections from GreenCommerce. The QC App has been expanded for this with functionalities that make it possible to pick up and perform an instruction.

Controlled inspection in the QC App
The quality control inspector or quality officer receives instructions in the menu of the QC App. In principle, the inspection follows the same steps as any other inspection, but at the last step an option has been added to indicate re-inspection days. When you click on that function, a new request is made in the background for a re-inspection on the indicated days. This is stored in GreenCommerce, which automatically creates a new inspection when the term has expired. In the QC App, the re-inspection then appears in the new instruction overview.
