Paperless order picking at M.J. Pronk with the Transport App

At the Poeldijk location of M.J. Pronk, the GreenCommerce Transport App has recently been introduced. Through the Transport App, order pickers have access to digital picking lists for sales orders, allowing them to view inventory and report progress in real time. Thanks to the integration with GreenCommerce, commercial staff are immediately informed about the status of order picking. With a team of 15 active users, tablets are now used daily in the warehouse to digitize the order-picking process.

M.J. Pronk: Full-service fruit and vegetable supplier
As a supplier of the complete fresh produce range, M.J. Pronk has been a well-known name in the industry for more than 65 years. With three locations strategically situated in Zwaagdijk, Poeldijk, and Mechelen (Belgium), the company offers a broad assortment of products that are purchased, processed, and distributed fresh every day. From Zwaagdijk, the company’s own trucks travel to Poeldijk, where all orders are consolidated before continuing on to Germany for delivery. Efficient and fast order picking in Poeldijk is essential to ensure that transport can continue without delays. For this reason, M.J. Pronk implemented digital order picking through the GreenCommerce Transport App.

Using the Transport App, order pickers indicate which products have been picked, with a timestamp automatically recorded for each action. This information is synchronized with GreenCommerce, giving sales staff real-time insight into the progress of order picking. If an order picker modifies a line that has already been fully or partially picked, the salesperson receives a warning in GreenCommerce. Elmer Saarloos, logistics director at the Poeldijk location, explains: “With the Transport App, commercial employees can see at a glance how far an order picker has progressed and what inventory is still available. Previously, we had no clear visibility into this and were often guessing when an order would be ready for shipment. The picking list is now always up to date, allowing us to anticipate shipment activities much more effectively.”

Opens the door to future expansion
The implementation, carried out together with Michelle (jem-id), went smoothly. Elmer continues: “A go-live always comes with a certain level of tension. Together with Michelle, we worked through many different scenarios, which allowed issues to be addressed constructively. There was a great deal of mutual understanding, and they took the time to guide us through the process. We are also exploring opportunities at our Zwaagdijk location. We have a meeting scheduled soon about the WMS App, and it may well be the next step in further digitizing our order-picking process.”

Digital order picking with the Transport App
The Transport App is a valuable addition for fresh produce companies that work with paper picking lists and batch-based registration. It provides a clear and structured overview of ongoing logistics activities, along with functionalities that help users efficiently manage and complete tasks. Any changes are immediately visible to employees and are clearly displayed on screen.

In the video below, the difference between the WMS App (pallet registration) and the Transport App (batch registration) is explained (in Dutch).
