Software company jem-id has developed a link that ensures a seamless connection of growers to the QPI sales system. With the new link to GreenCommerce, affiliated growers of Oxin Growers can easily exchange data with QPI about agreements regarding the logistics process. By connecting all growers in the same way, a uniform working method is created that ensures greater efficiency for both the growers and QPI.

Link ensures uniformity
Quality Produce International (QPI) is an importer and exporter of fruit and vegetables. Most QPI customers come from England, but are also located in Spain, the Netherlands and Germany. Customers are mainly supermarkets and food catering. By engaging a wide range of growers, they can supply products to their customers all year round. They often work with growers who are affiliated with Oxin Growers. Oxin Growers is one of the largest grower cooperatives in the Netherlands.

At the beginning of this year, QPI indicated its wish to transfer all growers who fully supply to QPI to the same link to GreenCommerce. Two Oxin Growers growers had previously been connected via an initial setup of the connection, but they encountered two challenges. Firstly, it was difficult to gain complete financial insight into GreenCommerce. This is because QPI purchases from Oxin Growers on the basis of both daily prices and contract prices. Gerrit Roest, commercial employee at QPI, explains: “These can be finalized batches, but it also regularly happens that a batch was bought partly based on the contract price and partly based on the daily price. Previously, such an order was processed in GreenCommerce as two separate batches, while in practice it involved one physical batch of goods.” QPI's wish was to be able to trade the goods as one batch, but to be able to process the price agreements made with Oxin Growers. New developments in GreenCommerce have made this method of processing possible.

Developments in GreenCommerce
Within GreenCommerce, an alternative way of processing order lines has now been made available for QPI. This means that separately communicated order lines can be adopted as one batch in GreenCommerce. The biggest advantage here is that further processing is also possible as one batch. This has a positive effect on, for example, the receipt of the goods, the movement to a stock cell, the inspection process and further stock processing.

Within GreenCommerce, in addition to the above-mentioned processing, a logistics block has also been created as long as no inspection report has been made of the received goods. Gerrit says: “After all, you want all incoming goods to only be moved once they have an inspection status, and not before that.”

The logistical blockage can easily be lifted by inspecting the pallet it concerns. Inspection reports can be published directly to GreenCommerce via the QC App. Gerrit continues: “In this way, commercial employees are immediately informed if received batches do not arrive according to specifications.”

Good cooperation between three parties
QPI's purchasing prices are then pushed to the Oxin Growers system. Albert-Jan Visser, ICT Team Leader at Oxin Growers, says: “We used to receive the information from QPI after which we manually entered the prices into our system. The QPI prices are automatically exchanged with our system via the jem-id link. This saves us a lot of work and immediately reduces the margin of error.”

Albert-Jan concludes: “If you want to automate with three different parties, it is very important that there is good mutual communication. Especially with a challenging project like this. To monitor this, standard communication moments have been scheduled to discuss next steps. This has created a great collaboration between Oxin Growers, QPI and jem-id.”
