Discontinuing the Transportal integration and introducing a new transport integration

On the 2026 roadmap, the discontinuing of the Transportal is one of the key initiatives. The technical preparations were completed last year, and this year is focused on the actual transition. By the end of this year, the Transportal will be fully discontinued and replaced by the renewed transport integration via FreshBabel. Business Consultant Berry van Zijp is involved in this project and shares the current status in this update.

The Transportal was originally developed to serve as an integration between transport companies and GreenCommerce customers. In addition to facilitating the exchange of logistics-related information, the Transportal also played an important role during the Brexit period in 2022. Through the Transportal, transport companies are informed about planned transport assignments and can process this information directly in their TMS system.

A new integration has now been developed between clients and transport companies, enabling even closer collaboration through real-time information exchange. Berry van Zijp explains: “The new integration has been built through our communication platform, FreshBabel. Last year, we developed several transport-related message types in preparation for discontinuing the Transportal.”

The reason for the discontinuing is straightforward: the Transportal offers limited options for expansion, such as additional references and shipment and unloading times. In addition, FreshBabel has been built using the latest technology. Berry explains: “With FreshBabel, these capabilities are available, and we can even consider future developments. We are also reaching the technical and monitoring limits with the Transportal. With the new integration, we can guarantee 24/7 monitoring of message processing. In addition, the client can attach a transport document, such as a transport order or CMR.”

Transport companies will be able to receive more data fields with the new integration. For the user in GreenCommerce, the process remains the same. Berry continues: “For the transition period, it is useful that we can temporarily run the old and new integrations side by side. Many transport companies are actively embracing the transition. Some even use it as an opportunity to enable new features immediately, such as push notifications. The usage remains very familiar, all names and references stay the same.”

By the end of this year, all transport companies connected to the Transportal will have been migrated to the new integration. We take care of the setup for you as a GreenCommerce user.
