Additional transport surcharge effective July 1st

On July 1, 2026, the Netherlands will introduce the truck toll charge. This new transport surcharge will result in additional costs for transport companies, which will be passed on through transport rates. These extra costs are based on the roads used, as specified in the Dutch Truck Toll Act. Within GreenCommerce, there are several ways to pass on this truck toll charge in the sales order, both through the standard functionality and through the additional “Dynamic Price Markups” module.

Cost program in the transport rate table
To register additional costs related to a transport assignment, it is possible to include a cost program in a transport rate table. Within a transport rate table, a surcharge percentage can be configured. This allows calculations to be based on an amount higher than the actual rate defined in the table.

The sales order line will then be calculated using the transport rate including the surcharge percentage, plus the fuel surcharge. Both percentages are calculated on the same “price per pallet” basis. As a result, one percentage is not calculated on top of another. These costs are then included in the transport reservation.

Once the transport assignment has been generated and the lines have been allocated, two cost items will be visible in the transport assignment.

1. The regular cost item for transport costs including the fuel surcharge. The surcharge percentage is not included here (therefore creating additional margin).
2. The additional cost item(s) generated from the linked cost program. This creates an extra transport cost line, but it is not included in the transport reservation for the sale.

The surcharge percentage should therefore be estimated and configured in proportion to the additional cost items. The extra margin can then be used to offset these additional costs.

Please note: the cost item is only calculated once pallets or batches have already been allocated. Since this is not always the standard way of working, it is important to take this into account.

Comprehensive solution through the “Dynamic Price Markups” module
The additional “Dynamic Price Markups” module makes it possible to create a transport surcharge per pallet space. This surcharge is included in your recommended sales price. In the sales order calculator, the dynamic price markup is displayed as a separate line in the calculation. This module provides the most comprehensive solution for handling the truck toll charge.
