For the best soft fruit you have to go to "the berry specialists", or Angus Soft Fruits, in Ridderkerk. Angus Soft Fruits has been working with GreenCommerce since 2017 to efficiently register all processes, from purchasing to invoice. Colleagues Jimmy and Jill visited Angus Soft Fruits and interviewed Amy:

Nice that Jimmy and I can visit your company! Who are you and what do you do at Angus Soft Fruits?
“My name is Amy de Rijcke. The fresh produce market is not new to me; I have 8 years of experience in the industry and have now been working at Angus Soft Fruits in the Sales department for 2 years. ”

Can you tell us something about the company?
“Our Scottish parent company was set up by 3 brothers, and now also their sons, who started in 1964 with 2 hectares of strawberries. These strawberries were driven around in an open truck towards the Manchester Fruit Market. This grew and more acres were planted in strawberries and raspberries, until Angus became so big in 1994 that they went straight to UK retailers. In 2003 Angus developed its own strawberry variety and has won several awards. Even now we are still involved in the development of varieties. In 2015, Edward van den Eijnden opened a sales office in the Netherlands to expand sales to Europe. Today, our products are already in 23 different countries, including European countries, but also in the Far East, for example. ”

“As a trading company, the mornings are the busiest here. Sales orders can come in all day long, but most order between 7am and 10am. Scandinavian retailers, for example, always have to pass on their purchases before noon, so the telephone and mailbox are always red hot in the morning. Fortunately, we recently have our own warehouse, which makes it easy for us to arrange production and transport, and we have better insight into the packaging process. ”

Have you worked with a different system for GreenCommerce?
“Before we started with GreenCommerce, we registered everything through Excel sheets and paper. Because we have grown rapidly in a short time, it became essential to digitally register and automate. That is why we started GreenCommerce 2 years after our foundation in 2017. ”

What benefits does GreenCommerce offer for your organization?
“The system ensures that we can work almost flawlessly, because every step in the process is checked for correct information. Sometimes I want to go faster than I actually am and forget to enter something. Fortunately, GreenCommerce immediately gives a message that I can only continue when all the information has been entered. We maintain an accurate result through these steps. This allows us to work accurately and limit errors as much as possible. "

How did you end up at GreenCommerce?
“An old colleague of ours already had experience with the system and was very enthusiastic about it. In addition, we saw several big organization in the fresh produce industry working with GreenCommerce and so the choice was easy for us."

Which parts do you use a lot?
“All purchasing and sales, production, transport and invoicing is arranged via GreenCommerce. Recently we also have our own warehouse in which we see a lot of potential and growth. Because the system can be expanded with different packages and modules, the system can grow with us and we can completely determine how we want to set it up. That gives us the freedom to continue to grow at a rapid pace. ”

Thank you for your time and the tour of the warehouse! Where could we find more information about Angus Soft Fruits?
"More information can be found on the website of Angus Soft Fruits. Have a nice trip back to JEM-id!"
