Digital connection between Gilad Produce and Coöperatie Hoogstraten

jem-id has developed a solution whereby trade organization Gilad Produce is digitally connected with Coöperatie Hoogstraten; the location where their bell peppers are sorted and packed. With the FreshBabel connection, they are able to exchange digital messages about the product, the loading and tracing, without having to type data or make phone calls. This saves time and ensures error-free work.

Gilad Produce BV (Gilad) has been supplying high-quality greenhouse vegetables since 2005, specializing in bell peppers, mini cucumbers and chili peppers. From January 2019 they started using GreenCommerce. Gilad markets products from Growers V.O.F. From 2021, the production of Gilads' bell peppers will be sorted by Coöperatie Hoogstraten in Belgium. The unsorted product is supplied in bulk, which is then used to make commercial packaging with the sorted product. ''As a result of Gilad's wish to be able to exchange data efficiently with Coöperatie Hoogstraten, we sat down and discussed the options further. This resulted in the connection via our FreshBabel Messenger platform. Also on the side of Coöperatie Hoogstraten people were already familiar with API connections, so that the message processing was realized quite smoothly'', says Berry van Zijp (jem-id).

FreshBabel ensures efficiency
FreshBabel translates messages from software system A into messages for software system B. It is like a digital interpreter for software systems, which intervenes and automatically prepares and reads the information for the other system. Gilad Produce BV and Coöperatie Hoogstraten thus connect digitally to each other and can exchange all kinds of information via messages. In this way, the administrative work becomes simpler, faster to perform and less prone to errors. Jan Mosterd (Gilad Produce) is enthusiastic: “With GreenCommerce and this link, we have good insight into the stocks and even better control. We also save time, which means that we do a lot of work with a small number of people. The implementation specialists at jem-id speak the language, they know the sector and that is a big plus for us.”

Explanation of information exchange
In terms of message formats, FreshBabel now has a broad base of predefined messages. These standard messages can be used for processing sorting results into purchase orders, offering loading instructions and processing loading results. The correct details and references are processed in every message. With this information, the right relationship can be established within GreenCommerce between the (supply) purchase order and the actual customer shipment, resulting in conclusive traceability and a correct basis for determining commission and results.
